NZ’s former Israeli ambassador is on a mission to find the family of a Kiwi soldier named Tate – who died 76 years ago.

Yosef Livne [pictured above] has been on a five year quest to locate the families of Tate, who fought alongside Israeli soldier Moshe Mosenzon in WWII, and whose first name is unknown.

The crusade to uncover the mysterious Tate began just before Livne started his diplomatic tenure in New Zealand, when he was reading about the history between the two countries.

I started reading books, and l found these five or six letters that were written by a member of the Israeli Kibbutz Naan in the 1940s. In it he mentions this Tate fellow,” Livne said…
