An opportunity has presented itself in the form of Professor Mark Pines and his wife, Professor Orna HaLevy.

In New Zealand for another week, they have offered to give a presentation on their work: a fascinating story of serendipity and through their research a major contribution to the management of Muscular Dystrophy.

Mark has been the Recipient of the following awards:

1991: Recipient of the Harell prize, Israeli Society of Endocrinology for the best research in the area of Bone and Mineral and Calcium Regulating Hormones.

1998: The “Scientist of the year” The Volcani Center4

2000, 2001, 2002: CapCURE (Prostate cancer foundation) award for prostate cancer research

2005: Kimron Research Fellowship Fund– Special contribution to Animal Sciences in Israel VII
