Rise in antisemitic and anti-Muslim crime revealed in new NZ figures.

There’s been a sharp rise in anti-Semitic offences since Hamas’ October 7 attacks two years ago and Israel’s devastating response in Gaza.

And offences against Muslims are also on the rise.

Figures released to Stuff under the Official Information Act show in the two years leading to October 7 2023, there were nine, then 20 anti-Semitic offences.

But after the Hamas attack and the Israeli government’s response, the numbers rose to 133 in the year to September 2024, and 97 in the year to September 2025.
