On Wednesday night, a gunman shot and killed a young couple outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., as they were leaving a Jewish event.
We deeply mourn this tragic loss and send heartfelt condolences to their families and all who knew this extraordinary couple, who were both staff members at the Israeli embassy.
This was a horrific act of antisemitic terror. We must stand together and take every action to prevent something like this from happening again.
Will you please make your voice heard by adding your name now to condemn antisemitic violence and call for greater protection for our Jewish communities?
This despicable and brazen murderer took the lives of two exceptional people who had dedicated their personal and professional lives to humanitarian causes and building bridges of respect and understanding. And though it occurred in the United States, the growing hatred targeting Jewish people is not an American phenomenon. It is happening across the globe, and it is becoming more and more violent.
But we will not allow this cowardly act to drive us into the shadows. We will not hide our faces or our symbols. We will continue to live openly and proudly as Jews.
With member communities and partner organizations in more than 100 countries across six continents, the World Jewish Congress is uniquely positioned to stand up, speak out, and fight back against surging antisemitism.
At this critical time, we are calling on President Trump and global leaders to help root out antisemites — independently of background, political alignment, or motivation. And we are demanding heightened vigilance and enhanced security to protect our Jewish communities and communal institutions from those who seek to harm us.
Please stand with us to amplify our voice and strengthen our efforts. Add your name now to condemn antisemitic violence, vandalism, and intimidation.
Thank you for refusing to be silent in the face of Jew hatred.
