Wellington’s Anne Frank Memorial has a new name – Parikōwhai.
Located at Mt Victoria’s Ellice Park, the memorial is the first of its kind in New Zealand, commemorating Anne Frank and the 1.5 million children who were killed during the Holocaust.
The new addendum is a gift from Te Ātiawa, with the site now dubbed Anne Frank Memorial Parikōwhai. The name – with corresponding signage – was unveiled and blessed at a ceremony on Sunday.
