Born and raised in South Africa and currently residing in New Zealand, the artist traces his Lithuanian Jewish roots during the exhibition “Mirror” captivating festival attendees with its profound exploration of personal heritage and how it influenced his creative path.

Throughout the past week, visitors to Auckland’s “Public Record” gallery have been immersed in Penn’s thought-provoking exhibition, which culminated on Saturday, April 20, with “Talk and Meet the Artist” event co-hosted by the gallery and the Lithuanian Society of New Zealand.

During the live meeting with the artist festival participants had a unique opportunity to hear Richard’s intimate insights into the genesis of his award-winning exhibition, revealing how his exploration of his father’s gestures catalysed his artistic journey.
