Troubled Hip-Hop star Kanye West has been dumped from the NZME roster of radio stations (Flava, ZM and The Hits). This follows the mother-of-all public meltdowns from the rapper who made a series of antisemitic remarks including an intention to go “death con (defcon) 3 on Jewish people”.
West spoke of a “Jewish underground media mafia” and described black signings to Jewish record labels as a form of “modern day slavery”. Social media platforms Twitter and Instagram blocked West’s accounts, business partners tore up lucrative contracts and talent agency CAA dropped him.
In ’lil ole Aotearoa, NZME felt compelled to take a stand, and stopped playing his music.
