At first glance, Christchurch dentist Vivienne Levy’s home looks deceptively like a cosy cottage with its quirky bright blue front door.

Once you step inside, the cottage-like exterior gives way to spacious rooms with high ceilings and beautiful wooden floors, all decorated in an array of colours with artwork and other memorabilia from her various travels lining the walls.

In a way, Levy is quite the same. At first glance an ordinary dentist, but actually one with an impressive CV, a colourful career, and many extraordinary stories to tell.

The New Zealand Dental Association (NZSA) agrees. It recently presented Levy with the 2024 NZDA Service Award, which chief executive Mo Amso says is testament to her “widespread accomplishments”, years of service to the association, and her “goodwill and philanthropic spirit”.
