The 18th Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival will be held in Auckland, Wellington and nationwide online from 24 May to 9 July 2023.

The festival will kick off in Auckland on Wednesday May 24,at The Capitol with the Opening Night Film: The Endangered Generation?, directed by Celeste Geer, and narrated by Laura Dern.
Following a new generation of scientists, artists and First Nations leaders, the film documents their search for clues to our survival through the study of nature and indigenous cultures.
Director Geer will be in attendance with a live Q&A following the screening.
In Wellington, the festival opens on Wednesday June 7 with The Roxy Cinema hosting Love to Love You, Donna Summer – a look at the iconic disco stars’ influence on the music industry, directed by Roger Ross Williams and Brooklyn Sudano.
All 71 films screening in this year’s festival, will have only one session per city so when we say book early to our fabulous opening night films – we mean it. We don’t want you to miss out.
