Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick says the Government should adopt her law for the sake of principle and consistency, as protests grow over Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Annual imports from Israel could be cut by $231 million if the Government imposed similar trade restrictions to those in place against Russia, according to new analysis.

The Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick, who is trying to secure cross-party support for her member’s bill, says the coalition must show “principle and consistency” as it seeks to manage the nation’s response to the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.

Tens of thousands of New Zealanders protested across the country last weekend, urging the Government to impose sanctions on Israel because of its war in Gaza.
