Israel Solidarity Rally – Christchurch

Shalom friends,

At last Sunday’s ‘Israel Solidarity’ rally, we had a roll call of the hostages being held in Gaza’s underground hell holes.

Among those named were Youssef Ziyadne 53 years old and his son, Hamza 22 years old. Days ago, we were informed that, during a daring IDF operation, the bodies of these two men were located, and have been returned to their family for burial.

Youssef and Hamza were residents of Rahat, the largest Muslim Bedouin community in Israel’s Negev desert. On October 7, 2023, twenty five people from Rahat, including Youssef and his three children, went to work in Kibbutz Holit and Kibbutz Sufa but never returned home: nineteen of them were massacred and six were taken hostage into Gaza. During the November 2023 ceasefire, two of Youssef’s children were released: Bilal 18 and Aisha 17 years old.

Over 1,200 innocent people were massacred on October 7, 2023, when Israel was invaded by radical Islamic terrorists and Gazan civilians. These butchers mass-raped, dismembered, burned alive and tortured babies, children, youth, elderly and disabled people, and took 54 precious souls captive into the terror tunnels of Gaza – including the bodies of some they had murdered.

The victims were of various nationalities, and I have been sickened by the lack of support that Israel has been given in order to bring the perpetrators to justice and to assist in bringing the hostages home. Rather, Israel has been castigated and abused at every opportunity by most of the international community.

Sunday, we shall again gather to publicly stand up and speak the truth of the October 7 massacre and declare our solidarity with Israel; the October 7 victims and their families; the hostages and their families, and the fallen and fighting heroes of the Israeli Defence Forces and their families.
