OPINION: We continue, despite great opposition, to stand up and speak out for that which we know is right…

Genesis 12:2 – God spoke to Abram and said, “I will make you a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.”

The people Israel were chosen to be a blessing to the world; they were given the responsibility to serve humanity in ways that all people may be blessed.

Genesis 12:3 – God said, “I will bless those who bless you and curse him that curses you; and all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you.”

In my view, the most influential and enduring blessing that the people Israel shared with the world was the knowledge of the one God, the relationship with the one God and the moral Laws of God.

I believe that it is the denial and hatred of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that accounts for the Jew-hatred throughout the centuries and in the world today, including in our nation of New Zealand – sadly, a nation that places a higher value on ethnicity than ethics.

History should be a warning to us: nations that forsake God; the moral Laws of God, and reject His chosen messengers eventually destruct or decay.

The ‘Black Saturday’ massacre of October 7 was committed by those who reject the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and, in their defiance, they violate every rule of humanity in order to destroy Israel and the Jews.

Today marks 636 days that innocent human beings have been enslaved in the terror tunnels of Gaza.

Fifty precious souls are at the mercy of radical Islamic terrorists who gleefully mock the sanctity of the Laws of God – as given to the Jews so that all people would not only survive but also thrive in freedom and peace.

For 636 days, these innocent people have been starved, humiliated and tortured. May our prayers and hopes be for their freedom, that they may soon be returned to their families, and may our prayers be for the fighting heroes of the IDF who risk their lives to battle for the hostages’ freedom.

Psalm 29:11 – “God will grant His people strength, God will bless His people with peace.”

In order to survive and live in peace, a nation must firstly be strong – it must be stronger than its enemies. Though it may be morally decent, a weak nation only encourages aggression from immoral nations.

Whilst it is always right to pursue peace, it is also wise to be prepared for war: Israel proved this in its ‘Operation Rising Lion’ against the extreme nuclear war threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Confronting and defeating evil, cannot be accomplished by standing on the sidelines, handing out flowers, platitudes and condemnation. This is wholly naive and anyone with even a basic understanding of human nature knows that.

May God hear our prayers for healing and peace for the people of the Promised, Sovereign and Eternal Nation of Israel.

Israel has never entered a war for material gain. It has only gone to war in defence of its people and future survival.

Surely, this is the right, just and humane course of action – especially for a people who have no other choice if they are to avoid another holocaust or total annihilation – hence, the military action against the present corrupt and cruel Iranian regime.

It is my hope that the Iranian people will unite, rise up and reclaim their country and their freedoms and return Iran to the great nation it once was.

May it be that Iran will again be a nation that treats all its citizens – whether, Muslim, Jew, Christian
or secular – with equal regard and respect. May it be that Iran will again be an ally of Israel – sharing a mutual respect as they did before the reign of the ayatollahs and their brutal dictatorship.

Although the Iran/Israel war is seen as a victory for Israel, there remains a tragedy in Gaza for which we must fight to bring awareness and the release of the innocent people being held hostage.

Let our hearts and prayers be with the victims of the ‘Black Saturday’ massacre of October 7; the fallen and fighting heroes of the IDF and all their families.
