OPINION: The Jews who returned to their historic homeland after escaping the jaws of Europe’s Nazi beast and fleeing from nations that reviled and rejected them, were undaunted by the almost insurmountable challenges and dangers they faced in re-establishing their promised and sovereign nation of Israel.
Though their history was tattered, their future would be triumphant and though their past marked them as victims, they determined that their future would be lived as victors.
They struggled against the harsh elements of an unknown and untamed land; their spirits rose and fell but they stubbornly refused to concede defeat to the elements, and they made the deserts bloom. They sought to ease the unrest of potential and eventual enemies within their borders; appease the enemies outside their borders and the ever-present international enmity.
They tenaciously focused on the future whilst their hands and hearts toiled to create a safe haven, and they built a nation based on equal rights for all its inhabitants – regardless of race or religion.
They longed for and loved peace but knew that it often comes at a high price: the price of war. As has been the case in the years following its re-establishment in 1948, Israel again pays the ultimate price in the hope of peace and security: it pays with the lives of its people.
Today, they fight to bring home the fifty remaining hostages taken in the October 7 massacre; they fight for the survival of their people, nationhood and future existence and they fight to defend their right to a life of dignity, freedom and peace.
Whilst our political and religious leaders continue to denounce and condemn Israel, seek to reward the butchers of the October 7 massacre with their own terror State on the border of Israel – ensuring further atrocities by radical Islamists – we shall not be silent or bow down to such evil intent.
Christopher Luxon and Winston Peters have made their beds with the rotting rags and stench of Jew-hatred, and they must suffer the consequences of this legacy that will stain their reputations and their souls. They shame New Zealand on the world stage and cast a dark shadow over our nation.
Regardless of its enemies and detractors, Israel shall continue to be a witness to all people and a free nation before the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Please, join with us this Sunday as we stand up and speak out publicly for the victims of the October 7 massacre; the fifty precious souls still held captive after 673 days of starvation, humiliation and torture; the fighting heroes of the Israeli Defense Forces and all their families.
