OPINION: Israel, the lone democracy in a region of tyranny, responded after the October 2023 massacre not with vengeance, but with resolve to dismantle the threat at its root, to rescue its people and to prevent another October 7th.
Yet, in New Zealand, a nation built on principles of fairness and standing up to bullies, our government’s response has been a whisper where a roar was needed.
A tepid equivocation that emboldens terrorists and isolates our ally, Israel.
Although the New Zealand Government has issued statements calling for a cease-fire and the release of the hostages, these words don’t carry any weight as our government has sanctioned Israeli ministers and banned travel for those combatting extremism in Judea and Samaria, while Hamas and the radical Islamic butchers of October 7 don’t face any such reckoning.
Quite beyond logic and reason, our government considers recognizing a ‘Palestinian state’ – a move that would reward the very entity that glorifies murder, mass-rape, torture and genocide.
Israel fights for its survival against an enemy sworn to its annihilation, yet New Zealand treats the victim and the villain as equal partners in a conflict.
Where is our outrage at Hamas’s torture tunnels and terror strikes, funded by billions in aid
meant for schools, hospitals, infrastructure and industry? Instead, we impose travel bans on
Israeli settlers defending their homes, while thousands march in our streets chanting for Israel’s extermination.
Our political and religious leaders should demand and echo Israel’s right to exist and thrive.
Prime Minister Luxon, a man apparently obsessed with fumbling in his pockets in search of that which is obviously absent; Foreign Minister Peters, a man who has betrayed a nation he once declared a friend, has shown weakness in defending the rights of that small democracy to defend its people and future existence.
Our leaders should be shouting for the release of the hostages – not simply whispering a disinterested acknowledgement of them amid vocal cries for a cease fire and the reward of statehood for their torturers and jailers.
Is it time for David Seymour to be a bold and bright light in our government’s moral darkness…?
Today marks 721 days that 48 innocent souls have been held in Gaza’s terror tunnels. The survivors are chained, tortured and starved. They are in Hamas’ dungeons because of a Satanic hatred for Israel and the Jews. It is these radical Islamic demons that our government consider rewarding with sympathy, support and statehood.
As has been the case historically, despite the folly and moral fragility of politicians, the people shall stand up and speak out with clarity and courage to demand truth, justice and accountability.
Sunday, we shall gather for the 103rd ‘Israel Solidarity’ rally. Please join with us to stand with the people of the Promised, Sovereign and Eternal Nation of Israel.
Details are on the attached poster.
