Hello from Jewish Lives.
An update of what’s been happening since we last saw you:
Firstly, and most importantly, we are delighted to announce Dame Lesley Max as a new Trustee of our governing organisation, The Jewish Museum of New Zealand Charitable Trust.
Dame Lesley has a formidable reputation in charity work, as well as a huge amount of personal drive and energy. We look forward to harnessing her expertise to strengthen our organisation.
We have also been continuing to develop relationships with like-minded organisations internationally that we hope to learn from and leverage expertise, particularly Melbourne, New York, London and Glasgow.
The Scottish Jewish Archive Centre in Glasgow may be able to help you if some of your ancestors came from there, or passed through there on the way to the Antipodes. Contact us to find out more.
We have some great new features for you this week:
- A new video of Deb Filler on what it was like growing up Jewish in 1960s Auckland. Deb Filler was interviewed by Andrew Patterson.
- Dame Lesley Max talking about the setting up of her Great Potentials Foundation as well as Jewish influences on her life and work.
In the Faith section, there are two updated articles:
- Jewish Faith – an introduction and Daily life and rituals. These are mainly for those wishing to discover more about Judaism.
- You can also see David Shenkin discuss his personal journey back to Judaism.
We value your continued support. Until next time – enjoy!
