Kia ora klezmer music fans:
We are at it again! This time on our home turf in Porirua (four current Klezmer Reb members live in the Porirua city area) we perform a one-hour concert in the Helen Smith Room at Pataka Arts Centre in Porirua (part of the Porirua Library complex).
We close the Friends of Pataka’s 2023 Winter Music Series of afternoon concerts this Sunday August 13 from 2pm to 3pm. Friends of Pataka members get in free; for everyone else it’s just $5 at the door.
We’ll be farewelling Ana Henderson our wonderful violinist who, sadly, will be playing her last gig with the Rebs.
We’ve got a strong hour of gentle story songs from the Yiddish/Jewish culture of eastern Europe, as well as some Ladino (Sephardic Jewish) songs, klezmer swing, some quirky covers and tuchas-shaking originals.
So come see the Klezmer Rebs for an enjoyable and culturally stimulating set of music, with plenty of time to make it home in time for your afternoon nap!
