A Labour party foreign affairs spokesperson is being criticised for a social media post which appears to justify the October 7 attack on Israel, where Hamas militants killed more than 1000 people.
Labour Party associate foreign affairs spokesperson Damien O’Connor, who is a former trade minister, re-posted a quote saying: “Palestinians have every right to do whatever they did on October 7th.”
The ACT Party called on Labour leader Chris Hipkins to reprimand O’Connor over the post, to X / Twitter.
ACT’s Simon Court, who has been a vocal defender of Israel since the war started last year, said the comment shared by O’Connor displayed an “extreme and hateful” view.
