In 1536 CE the Roman Catholic Church in Portugal extended its campaign against Jews by establishing the inquisition in Brazil, writes Michael Kuttner

For nearly three hundred years Brazilian Jews had either to convert or flee. Those caught practising Judaism in secret were persecuted and condemned to death. Many of these conversos, as they were called, retained some observances which were passed down to succeeding generations.

Fast forward to 2023 and witness the unfolding miracle of Brazilian families returning to their long lost heritage. One of the most moving experiences of living in Israel is to participate in the joyous celebrations as those descended from long lost secret Jews rejoin the Jewish People.

We were privileged to take part in such an occasion as the young men were called up to the reading of the Torah for the first time after completing their reconversion process. It is awe inspiring to be front row participants in the fulfillment of the prophecies about our exiles returning from far distant lands.

 DON’T LOOK DOWN

Israel’s longest suspension bridge has opened in Jerusalem.

It spans the valley of Gehenom (Hell) which is why you need to be careful when you walk over the bridge.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

Take a tour and see for yourselves over two thousand years of Jewish history coming to life in the City of David National Park excavations.

What has been unearthed so far is just a small portion of what is still to be excavated.

It shatters the lies that Jews were never present and that the Temples never existed.

Who knows what exciting things are yet to be discovered.
