On behalf of the Auckland Theatre Company, the Zionist Federation is notifying the community of the upcoming production of “Things That Matter” from 17-20 August at ASB Waterfront Theatre in Auckland…
The play is based on the memoir by the son of Jewish Polish immigrants and prominent doctor Dr David Galler. It is an inspirational and life-affirming story weaving anecdotes from his time at Middlemore hospital with that of his parents who survived the holocaust.
“Adapted for the stage, award-winning playwright Gary Henderson masterfully weaves Galler’s compassionate insight on the real and important stories of patients and the stark realities of the New Zealand healthcare system with stories of his life, and that of his Jewish Polish immigrant parents. Inspirational and life-affirming, Things That Matter shines a light on the importance of humanity and the challenging decisions that doctors, families and society face.”
