A break-in and vandalism at the Auckland offices of Kiwi tech firm Rakon has been claimed by a person who says their actions were a protest related to Israel’s war in Gaza.
The incident, at the company’s Mt Wellington premises, came in the early hours of Thursday, August 21.
Police confirmed a 20-year-old was arrested and will appear in court on Wednesday charged with burglary.
A person claiming responsibility for the action shared a statement online last Thursday, alongside photos purporting to show the damage.
“The purpose of the break-in was to cause financial damage to Rakon and disrupt its operational capacity,” the statement read.
