An attendee at a Fontaines DC gig says he was told by security to turn his pro-Palestine T-shirt inside out if he wanted to see the show.
When Tito Tafa arrived at Spark Arena wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the Palestinian flag, he was aiming to show solidarity with those affected by the Middle Eastern conflict while enjoying the music of Fontaines DC.
Instead, he was almost barred from the Irish post-punk band’s only Auckland show on March 12.
Security staff at the arena asked him to wear the shirt, which also included the phrase “resistance is not the crime”, inside out or leave the premises, citing a policy prohibiting political attire from being on display…
