Shalom chaverim:
It would seem that our efforts have paid off and according to the Jerusalem Post, New Zealand have joined the ever growing list of morally minded countries in boycotting the UN’s antisemitic Durban IV Conference at the end of this month.
According to the Jerusalem Post, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said this Thursday that, “New Zealand remains strongly committed to combatting racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance,” and that “Consistent with our long-standing position, New Zealand will not attend the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration conference in New York on 22 September 2021.”
We would like to thank everyone who wrote to the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and local MPs. We would also like to thank the Hon Nanaia Mahuta for making this decision and supporting the Jewish communtiy in New Zealand and across the world in standing up to antisemitism.
