I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new Jewish Youth Leadership Development worker, Sonya Avdish.
The role will be primarily aimed at working with Jewish youth across the country focusing on the following areas:
- Empowering Jewish youth and young adults with the knowledge and skills to become future leaders.
- Creatively foster quality experiences that develop relationships between NZ Jewish youth and the land, history, culture, and the people of Israel.
- Build relationships with youth and young adults in the community.
This is a key role in upskilling our youth to understand Jewish and Israeli history, how to recognise legitimate criticism of Israel as opposed to antisemitism, and how to challenge it when it arises in an informative and safe way.
