John Minto is still hunting for Israelis. And apparently, nobody in authority is particularly concerned.

This week, Minto published photographs of two young men reportedly seen in central Christchurch. He identified them as Israeli soldiers, accused them of being “fresh from taking part in the genocide in Gaza”, and invited members of the public to confront them.

“If you see them let them know,” he wrote, “that while our racist Foreign Minister Winston Peters might welcome them here — we don’t.”

There was no evidence accompanying the accusation. No military records, no details of any alleged criminal conduct, no substantiation that either man had participated in genocide. Just two photographs, an accusation of one of the gravest crimes known to international law, and an invitation for strangers to act upon it.

And this is not some anonymous internet crank.
