We are living at a time when truth is inverted, facts are mangled and history is rewritten.
George Orwell’s famous novel, 1984, in which he predicted all these realities, has in fact become a standard feature of life in 2026.
Hallucinations are defined as “false sensory perceptions – sensing things that are not there.”
Delusions are defined as “fixed false beliefs – thinking things that are not true despite contrary evidence.”
There is no better description of today’s muddle when it comes to Israel and the Jewish condition internationally.
As we race towards the end of yet another year in the Jewish calendar the outlook for the incoming period looks decidedly murky and fraught with potentially lethal uncertainty.
First and foremost of course is the continuing confusion and ongoing debacle surrounding the on and off again attempts to defang Iran and neuter its ability to threaten terror and nuclear blackmail.
It has become depressingly obvious that what at first was a determined desire to precipitate regime change has now mutated into an admission of aborted objectives. Promises of the “cavalry coming to the rescue” have sunk beneath a wave of abandoned promises. This in turn has further emboldened the Jihadist Mullahs and resulted in the arrest and murder of thousands of innocent Iranian men and women.
The US President’s incessant boasts of being “locked and loaded” vanish like desert mirages as revelations of weapons and missiles shortages leak out. Despite denials the plain truth is that depleted stocks are a problem. No doubt this incredible state of affairs has been duly noted by not only Iran but also by its allies, China, Russia and North Korea.
One has to wonder how Britain and the USA managed to fight against Nazi Germany and its allies for six long years and still have enough ammunition to properly finish the job.
The contrast between then and now is stark and helps explain why the mess we face has developed.
Back then it was unconditional surrender. There were no deals dangled and no fake negotiations. No bouts of “on and off” declarations with changing objectives.
Locked and loaded had an entirely different meaning and the protagonists knew exactly what the end result would look like.
This all stands in stark contrast to the current waffling and weaving emanating from Washington.
Who ever heard of a rogue terror sponsoring regime dictating terms to a supposedly superior adversary? Yet this is the absurd situation which currently exists.
Vice President Vance stated this week that “the US had made progress in negotiations with Iran” but warned “the war is still in the middle of the game.”
Note that the VP considers the conflict as some sort of “game.”
Someone should tell him that it might be a game for him but for millions of Israelis and Jews worldwide this confrontation is deadly serious. It will have catastrophic consequences if this “game” does not produce a winner and a decisive result.
Vance’s unbelievable observations however, pale into insignificance when compared with the hallucinatory delusions issuing forth from his boss.
Iran has issued new conditions for any sort of opening of the Hormuz Strait. These include an end to the war, the lifting of sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, war reparations and an end to US military action against Iranian backed proxies. In addition, Iran has ruled out eliminating nuclear material and abandoning its offensive weapons programmes.
These demands are clear enough.
Unfortunately, instead of a swift rebuttal the American Commander in Chief made responses which signal desperation to exit the mess he has created.
According to the Wall Street Journal, citing official American sources, Trump is working towards withdrawing from the confrontation even without an agreement on the nuclear issue. He has played down concerns over Iran’s buried uranium stockpile, claiming that “the US already has the nuclear material because it is located so deeply underground.”
Sources reveal that he apparently stated that “Tehran is likely unable to resume its nuclear activity during his presidency.”
If this quote is accurate it actually means that we have just two years to wait before the next President assumes power. At that time the odds are high that the Mullahs will step on the gas and get the bombs. Nobody will be able to stop them because the US will have tossed in the towel and the EU plus the UK will be lining up to do business.
The Iranians know this as do the Russians and the Chinese. It seems that the only people who are blithely oblivious are the Democratic Progressives and the growing Republican isolationists.
Compounding all these absurdities was this offering from the President: “we are lowering our profile with Iran. It will work out – everything works out in the end. It’s like a game of chess.”
There are not many commentators who think that Trump is a grandmaster who has the patience and skill to outwit devious deceivers. It is more likely he will be check mated.
No prizes for predicting who will be blamed when it all falls to pieces and who will be required to finish the job of making the region safer.
Liberating the long suffering Iranian people from the iron grip of the jihadist occupiers should be the goal of all democracies.
Unfortunately, in the Orwellian reality we currently live in, this is far from being attained.
Deliberate delusions are not confined to the North American continent. They are now an endemic condition infecting all parts of the international community.
Once again UNESCO is among the leaders of the pack when it comes to rewriting history and distorting facts. As part of an ongoing campaign designed to permanently erase Jews from their ancestral homeland this United Nations affiliated body has embarked on yet another round of revisionist resolutions.
Judea and Samaria are the Biblical heartland of Israel and contain innumerable sites which are rich in Jewish historical authenticity. This is why the PA masquerading as the State of Palestine, has engaged on a full scale crusade to destroy archaeological sites in the area, plunder Jewish antiquities and use international groups such as UNESCO to convert these places into Islamic or Palestinian heritage places.
According to UNESCO the Temple Mount has nothing to so with Jews or Judaism. As far back as 2018 they shamefully voted at the behest of Abbas to designate Jerusalem as an exclusive Muslim heritage city thus delegitimizing Israel’s Capital. In 2021 the UN General Assembly passed a similar resolution with Australia voting against and New Zealand shamefully voting in favour.
Since then the campaign to erase any Jewish connection has gathered steam. Instigated and promoted by the UN and its associated groups as well as the PA, historical facts are being eradicated and a fictitious narrative substituted.
This has aptly been described as cultural genocide.
As it only affects Jews however there are no international outbursts of rage or demonstrations at universities or marches in world capitals against this travesty.
A worse example of hallucinatory and delusional hate is hard to find.
